Support your local Search and Rescue Volunteer Team

Winnipeg Search and Rescue 2023 Recruiting:
With any volunteer organization there is solid core of individuals that keep moving the organization forward. There are also those that due to changes in their family, work, health situations leave the organization and are then replaced by others. Winnipeg Search and Rescue experiences this same rotation of volunteers and why access to new volunteers is important for keeping the organization strong.
WINSAR is currently looking for individuals that can contribute skills and time to support search call outs, search training, search and rescue prevention programs, support of community events and for administration and logistical support.
WINSAR recruits come from a wide variety of background from Winnipeg and surrounding communities. We need many skills sets to support the group with the focus this year being those physically and mentally prepared to deal with the long hours and challenging conditions involved with wilderness and urban searches. Although Search and Rescue providers are our primary focus, there is always room for those that can support the group in other roles.
If you are interested in volunteering with WINSAR or a rural Search and Rescue Manitoba team (SARMAN Volunteer Association), please contact us from our contact page. We also invite you to view our Facebook Page (Winnipeg Search and Rescue Association) and our Twitter page @SARWinnipeg to get a better idea what our activities are in the community.
We look forward to hearing from potential applicants in the near future.
2020: Winnipeg Search and Rescue is very happy to announce the addition of a dedicated response vehicle.
WINSAR purchased a Command/Equipment trailer a few years ago that has proven to be a great asset in support of our assigned tasks and community events. In previous years the trailer was pulled by vehicles owned by volunteers. As there only a few members who have the experience hauling a 25 trailer and a vehicle large enough to handle the load, it was often challenging to get the trailer and equipment where it needed to be.
Did we mention that we are a volunteer not-for-profit organization that is funded by contributions from our members and specific fund raising activities? Thanks to the contributions of local businesses, private donations and the numerous fund raising volunteer hours by our members, WINSAR continued to add to a purchase fund for a response vehicle. In 2019 the Winnipeg Foundation provided a grant that when added to our our funds. This additional funding allowed for the purchase of a vehicle along with a truck cap and miscellaneous equipment for the truck.
WINSAR is very grateful for the support we received from the Winnipeg Foundation. Without this financial assistance, it would have taken several additional years to reach our fund raising goal.
As we are self funded we would be interested in speaking with individuals, businesses or organizations that would be interested in making donations to help support the yearly operations costs associated to running our organizations. Our fund raising model historically has been obtaining small amounts from multiple sources. If interested in assisting us, we can ensure we make small amounts show huge returns through our contributions to the community. Please contact us through our contact page.
Please see our gofundme page to either make a donation or share the link with others you are connected to through email or social media.
